Access Database Corrupted due to W32-Oror-R Virus

A virus is a software program that gets copied and automatically executes itself to corrupt the data stored in your system. These viruses spread themselves on the network and infect all the computers connected in the network. These viruses are one of the most common reasons for the corruption or damage of MS Access database. Once the database files (.accdb and .mdb) get corrupted due to a virus attack, the data stored in these files becomes partially or completely inaccessible. An ideal way to overcome any type of virus attack is by restoring data from an updated backup. However, if no valid backup is available or backup fails to restore the required information, then you will need to use advanced access repair application that can repair your corrupted Access database.

As a practical scenario, your MS Access database gets corrupted due to attack of fatal virus named W32-Oror-R. After the corruption, when you attempt to mount your Access database, you encounter the below error message:

“File needs to be repaired”

After the above error message appears, the data stored in the Access database becomes inaccessible. Furthermore, you encounter the same error message every time you attempt to mount your Access database.

Cause:

The root cause for occurrence of the above error message is W32-Oror-R virus attack. To prevent the occurrence of the above error message, you should always have pre-installed anti-virus software installed in your system.

Resolution:

To resolve the above error message, you will need to use inbuilt repair utility named “Compact and Repair.” To use the utility, you will need to follow the below steps:

1.You will need to go to the Tools menu and select Database Utilities and then click Compact and Repair Database.
2.Search and then click the database in the ‘Database to Compact From’ dialog box, and then click Compact.
3.You will need to select an appropriate folder location for the new file in the ‘Compact Database Into’ dialog box, type a unique name for the file and then click on Save.

But, if the inbuilt repair utility fails to repair the database, then you will need to use advanced Access Database Repair application. These Access Repair applications employ high end scanning algorithms to scan and repair the corrupted Access database files.
